As we gather to remember and honor Erik’s remarkable life we invite you to join us in commemorating his enduring legacy. Erik’s impact reached far and wide, leaving an indelible mark on those who had the privilege of knowing him. To ensure that his memory lives on, we will be hosting remembrance events between January and April 2024 during which friends, family, and colleagues will have an opportunity to reflect on Erik’s profound contributions to their lives, the tech world and his unwavering commitment to social change.
For those unable to attend in person, we will be providing a recording of the memorial, allowing Erik’s loved ones near and far to participate in the celebration of his life. These recordings will be made available on this page following the remembrance event, ensuring that Erik’s memory can be cherished by all who knew him.
In addition to the remembrance event, we will be holding upcoming interment events to honor Erik’s final wishes. A green burial will take place on March 15th at BlueStem Cemetery in Cedar Grove, N.C. and then in Uppsala, Sweden, with his family on April 20th for close family and friends. We invite you to join us as we pay tribute to a beloved husband, son, brother, and friend, whose presence will be deeply missed but whose legacy will continue to inspire us all.
Memorial, January 28, 2024

Burials
Erik expressed a desire for his final arrangements to prioritize environmental sustainability. He specified cremation as his preferred method and requested that his ashes be interred in both North Carolina and Sweden, his homeland, within his family’s burial grounds. Both of these events will be recorded and shared here.
Ash burial, March 15, 2024
We invite you to join us for the interment ceremony, where we will lay Erik’s ashes to rest at Bluestem Cemetery, a nature preserve, with native grassland restoration, a trail network, quiet areas for reflection, open space for contemplation, and a conservation cemetery for natural burial. His remains will be laid to rest here next to his two beloved German Shepherds, Kofy and Goliath, Goli, brought from Guatemala.
This will be a time for us to come together as a community, to offer our final farewells, and to find comfort in each other’s presence.
